Restore & Protect Your Tooth
Why You Need It
A dental crown becomes necessary when a tooth is severely decayed, cracked, broken, or significantly weakened — often following a root canal or large filling. Left unprotected, a compromised tooth is vulnerable to fracturing under normal biting pressure, which can result in complete tooth loss.
Crowns are also used to restore teeth that are badly worn down, restore teeth large existing restorations that put the tooth at risk of fracturing, or to improve the appearance of a discolored or misshapen tooth. Dr. Paulina Labuz will carefully evaluate whether a crown is the most appropriate solution for your specific situation.
The Process
The process typically takes two visits. At your first appointment, Dr. Paulina Labuz gently reshapes the tooth to create space for the crown and takes a precise digital impression. A temporary crown is placed to protect the tooth while your custom permanent crown is fabricated in a dental lab to match your natural shade and bite.
At your second visit — usually within two weeks — the temporary crown is removed and the permanent crown is carefully checked for fit, color, and bite before being permanently cemented in place. Most patients find the process comfortable and straightforward.
The Outcome
Crowns can last 10–15+ years with proper care, shielding your tooth from further damage and decay.
